Music makes me high.....literally!
I hate making general assumptions, but I bet some of you have experienced the euphoric magic carpet ride, that follows after taking a toke or two (or three or more) on your favorite strain of Mary Jane.
Even if you have no clue what I’m talking about here, or at least pretending that you don’t, to avoid judgment (if that’s you...it’s just our secret....I promise) then I’m sure that you’ve at least had the comparable feeling that comes from forgetting all your worries, and getting lost in the vibe of your favorite grooves.
There’s something about the way that the melodies are strung along on some of our favorite “weed songs” that takes our mind off of the same things that cannabis is supposed to take our minds off of.
Something about the way the lyrics in those beloved tunes , often accompanied by a cloud of purple haze, makes us feel as if the doobie they’re referring to, is an actual lover that we would likely fall in love with too.....given the chance to meet “her”! (correct me if I’m wrong, but weed is usually referenced as a “her”.....right?)
And let me be clear....it’s not just the “weed songs” that can take us to “that place”. I’ve been spaced out on jams that have no direct link to celebrating the green sticky plant.
Anyway.....i’ll get back on topic now, before you start assuming that I’m high off of more than just what’s coming out of my headphones right now 😁
What song makes you “high”?
What can you listen to that gives you an outer body experience, and makes you lose all sense of time?
I can give you five records that I put on whenever I need to “get away”.
Here they are:
-Bootsy Collins - Munchies for Your Love
-Wiz Khalifa - Mezmorised
-Dr. Dre - The Roach (The Chronic Outro)
-Parliament - Sir Nose D’Voidoffunk
-Bone Thugs N’ Harmony - Blaze It
If you’ve never listened to any of these, please give them a spin, and let me know what kind of effect they have on you.
It always amazes me that music can make you feel the same way some “drugs” can. If there were two things that I think could lead to world peace, I’d happily vouch for an abundance of free concerts, and a unanimous legalization of cannabis across the globe! Like c'mon.....it's already legal in a handful of states, and being "decriminalized" in others. So many people reap amazing benefits from that, in so many ways!
So, my call to action for you today is, to contribute to making the world a better place by firing up......your favorite playlist, and let the music make you high!
